You Can't Buy People Coming Back

Jun 18, 2026

I ignored my side project for a month. Didn't ship new code or post about it. Figured it would be slowly dying.

But when I came back to PostHog, the active users had actually jumped. 20 → 32.

Makes me think the core value prop is solid. You can always buy traffic to your site. But you can't buy people coming back.

Most of my side projects are a leaky bucket. Users churn out quickly, but this one is sticky. People keep coming back to read blogs on their kindle.

Next up, got to figure out the acquisition funnel. Most signups came from Reddit, a couple from Google search. Time to pour some fuel on it :)
